Introducing our host Al Murray

Al Murray, with his alter ego The Pub Landlord, is one of the most recognisable and successful comics in the UK.

For more than 20 years, Al has filled arenas around the world, won numerous awards and successfully hosted an array of television series, including Al Murray’s Happy Hour (ITV) and the groundbreaking sitcom Time Gentlemen Please (Sky One).

Al’s additional live TV credits as The Pub Landlord include three appearances on The Royal Variety Performance (ITV), hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC One) and Live at the Palladium (ITV), to name but a few.

Swapping his comedy stage persona for himself, Al has combined his passion for film and history and made two specials for BBC Four: Al Murray’s Great British War Movies and Al Murray’s Great British Spy Movies

As a writer, Al has enjoyed great success with his books The Pub Landlord’s Book of British Common Sense and The Pub Landlord Says Think Yourself British. He later tested the nation’s pub knowledge in The Pub Landlord’s Great British Pub Quiz Book and explained how politics actually works in Let’s re-Great Britain (2015).

Al continues to sell out national and international stand-up tours and has recently finished his common-sense crusade in “Let’s go backwards together”. In April, Al took home the prize of “best newcomer” in the Great British Pantomime Awards 2018 for his role as Idle Al in Jack and the Beanstalk.
